What is piggybank life

I coined the word piggybank life to symbolize the start of a way of life and  choices that my husband and I made  in order to live the life we wanted.  Literally, our first travel together in Vigan, Ilocos Sur to see the old Spanish houses many years ago was financed primarily by the five and ten-peso coins we saved up in our green plastic piggy bank. Now we have two of those. And we labeled the piggies “our travel fund”.

I named the blog piggybank life to represent the kind of life we choose to live, save for and enjoy.   Piggy banking is a fun way to start saving but more than that, it means you get to enjoy your savings in a short while.   I’m a believer of positive self-indulgence – of enjoying the life you choose to lead now and not in the distant future or a someday that may never come.

Why Get RICH with LESS

I naively thought at first that being financially independent or having financial freedom is about never having to worry about money.   If that would be the case I’d wait for a long, long time for that to happen, unless I win the lottery or become an heir.   What would I do in the meantime?   I’m not going to wait until I retire and I’m old and my knees would no longer carry me.

Now, I know better.   I have a work that I love and inspires me, family and friends that make my life worth living, a cause that I believe in.   I don’t have a lot but I have enough (and I save if I don’t)  to live the life I choose for myself and this makes me real rich.
