Our attitude towards work may either open up better opportunities for us or reduce our chances for promotion or positive job realignment. Worst, that door of opportunities may be forever closed to us.
There’s nothing to lose but a lot to gain if we decidedly adapt a positive work attitude no matter what the circumstances of our work is.
In the event that you do get a promotion and your compensation becomes better you are now in a good position to further enjoy the lifestyle you’ve chosen for yourself. Now, don’t get me wrong my dear, I’m not telling you to visit the nearest boutique and buy new clothes or get a better car, embark on house improvement projects, upgrade to a new cell phone or laptop or book a trip abroad right away.
Take a moment to thank the people around you. Reassess your life and your finances. If you have accumulated debts then tackle that first and start putting away something in a savings account.
Do enjoy the promotion and the raise, though. Better yet, share the good news with good friends and family by treating them to a simple yet lovely dinner at home. If you want you could buy a little something for each of them with a nice little note of how they, in one way or another, contribute to your good fortune.
Finally, treat yourself. Depending on your circumstances, indulge a little or splurge on something that mean the most to you.
