One day you were just wowing your officemates with a super cool ipod or a pair of louis vuitton handbag or a recent escapades in Hongkong Disneyland then soon enough the bills piled up unpaid.
Demand letters and calls are becoming an annoying part of your daily life. You’ve lost the spring in your steps and your shoulders are now in perpetual slump. Your brows are creased with worries and your relationships suffer. Getting up in the morning becomes a misery.
Oh surely, getting ourselves caught up with money problems is a definite way to a beauty mess! What will all the worry lines now taking residence in our faces!
Will it make you feel better if I say statistics shows that there are thousands deep in debt around the world?
Oh, berate yourself if you must and wallow in regrets. Cry a bucket and think of the many ifs and the what might have beens.
But get out of debt! It’s time to live to the barest necessities. Don’t despair, it’s only for awhile.
- Allot only for food and tranpo allowance to work.
- Cut back on utility (electricity, water, telephone, gas, etc.) usage.
- Walk your way to fitness and to work if possible.
- Bring lunch to work. Eat crackers or fruits during breaks and drink lots of water instead of the health-hazard soda
- Never buy anything new or never buy anything period. Patch your shoes and mend a shirt whenever possible.
- Text instead of calling and text only when necessary. Use the 300 card load that lasts for 60 days.
- In relation to the above never set foot inside a shopping mall for the time being.
- Find a part time job or any kind of work that bring in extra money, but nothing illegal or questionable please.
Whatever you saved up by doing the above use it to settle your monetary obligations until the slate is clean.
From time to time, do indulge a little. A cup of good coffee while you are mulling over a way to earn extra money would be nice. Borrow a really hilarious comedy or a tear- jerker or a heart-racing edge-of-the seat action thriller from a friend. Perhaps, a really nice book or a favorite music to put yourself to sleep? A walk in the park with the dog or kids, the wife or a real good friend?
Remember I am with you in this journey. When the slate is clean let’s get together, okey?
